Application Process for English as a Second Language Classes

The English as a Second Language Department conducts its own registration sessions.

To take ESL classes, you must

  1. Complete a Harper College application.  Select ESL as your major.  APPLY NOW.         This is a .PDF file and can be opened using Acrobat Reader.

                                                                                                          

  2. Turn in your completed application to the Admissions Outreach, Building C, Room C102. You will be charged a $25 non-refundable application fee. Wait three or more business days for your application to be processed.
  3. After your application has been processed, come to the ESL Office, located in Building F, Room F340, Parking Lot 2. Appointments can only be made in person
    - Bring ID showing the student's name and current U.S. address.
    - Make an appointment to take ESL tests. We will give you written information about classes and schedules when you make your appointment.

Spring ESL Courses

  • Appointments for spring ESL classes begin in November.
  • Testing and registration begin in January. Payment is required on the day of registration.
  • Spring ESL classes begin in January and end in May.

Summer ESL Courses

  • Appointments for summer ESL classes begin in March.
  • Testing and registration begin in May. Payment is required on the day of registration.
  • Summer ESL classes begin in June and end in July.

Fall ESL Courses

  • Appointments for fall ESL classes begin in late June.
  • Testing and registration begin in August. Payment is required on the day of registration.
  • Fall ESL classes begin in August and end in December.
