This classroom-taught course will be offered at Harper College starting Fall, 2002 semester. It is the first in a series of 4 Linux Operating System courses, leading to Linux Professional Institute certifications. These courses will, initially, use Mandrake's distribution of Linux. This series of courses is designed to prepare the student for the LPI (vendor-neutral) certifications. The Mandrake distribution appears to be a little less customized than Red Hat's distribution. We feel that a vendor-neutral, professional certification is more meaningful in the job market and is better accepted by major vendors like IBM who is relying heavily on Linux.
