The degree and certificate programs in Computer Information Systems are designed to prepare students for jobs such as computer programmers, Network specialists, web developers, e-learning developers, computer support & help desk specialists,and computer application specialists. Students may seek entry level positions or supplement existing knowledge for their present job.

The CIS Internship Program provides opportunities to gain college credit and practical work experience through: programming related internships, other computer related internships, and through networking related internships. This internship program is open to Harper College students only.

.NET Magazine reports that the Gartner Group predicts that by 2007, 40 percent of programmers will use Java, 40 percent will use .NET , and the remaining 20 percent will use a variety of other languages.
