Software Development

Computer Information Systems Software Development is a career program leading to an Associate in Applied Science degree. The technical curriculum trains students for various Software Development positions in the field of computer information systems. The student will take courses in mathematics, business, computer information systems, and general education.

Graduates of the program may find employment as computer programmers, system analysts, or consultants.

The curriculum integrates general education with technical training. Students study the function and operation of current software packages and receive extensive laboratory experience on IBM PCs.

General Course Information

male student using a computerCourses are offered in the evening, during the day, and online. Some courses may be offered in a condensed 8-week format to permit part-time students to meet their particular training needs and to reach an achievable goal within a reasonable time period.

Other degree and certificate options are available in the computer information systems field. Credits earned in the certificate programs may be applied to the associate degree programs.

Software Development Certificate

The student will gain experience using a choice of three Software Development languages: C++, Visual Basic, or Java. This exposure will be useful to a person whose job or business requires the use of these Software Development languages in a business environment. This certificate provides students with a well rounded skill-set for entry-level Software Development positions.
