Smoking Policy
It is the policy of William Rainey Harper College to maintain a
smoke/tobacco free environment consistent with its efforts to promote
wellness and a campus environment conducive to work, study and
activities for students, employees and the public.
The College recognizes the rights of those who choose to use tobacco
and does not prohibit the use of tobacco products. It does, however,
restrict the use of these materials to areas outside College
buildings and vehicles. As defined in this policy, tobacco products
include cigarettes, cigars, or tobacco in any other form, including
smokeless tobacco which is any loose, cut, shredded, ground,
powdered, compressed or leaf tobacco that is intended to be placed in
the mouth without being smoked.
Implementation of this policy is subject to guidelines determined by
appropriate College committees and communicated to students and staff
on a regular basis. The guidelines are also printed in appropriate
procedures manuals.
