Cardiac Ultrasound Technology

One is a college credit degree program, one is a Continuing Education Certificate program. Both programs prepare you for a position as a cardiac sonographer. Skills learned in the hands-on training will enable you to assist physicians in the diagnosis of heart disease.
  1. Associate in Applied Science Degree

    The 2-year degree program that is appropriate for most everyone. This program offers a sound foundation in cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathology. Instruction is provided in EKG, rhythm surveillance, stress testing, and cardiac ultrasound. This program starts every fall semester.

  2. Cardiac Ultrasound Technology Certificate

    NOTE: This is a Continuing Education (non-credit) Certificate. This one-year fast paced certificate program is appropriate for individuals with a two year allied health care degree which is patient care related, or a Bachelor’s degree in any science. College coursework in anatomy, physiology, English, elementary algebra required. Offers a short review of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathology assuming that the student has a sound background in these areas. This program instructs in cardiac ultrasound only. Begins every January.

  3. In order to apply to either program it is MANDATORY that you attend an INFORMATION SESSION for that program. Career opportunities, curriculum, schedules, prerequisites specific to that program will be discussed. See the Calendar for Information Session schedule.
