Associate DegreesHarper College offers six associate degrees, five of which are designed for students who will transfer to a four-year college or university to complete a bachelor’s degree. These are the Associate in Arts (A.A.), the Associate in Science (A.S.), the Associate in Fine Arts–Art (A.F.A.), the Associate in Fine Arts–Music (A.F.A.) and the Associate in Engineering Science (A.E.S.) degrees, which comprise the first two years of study toward degrees in a broad range of arts-related or science-related disciplines.The sixth, the Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree, is awarded upon completion of a two-year career program, designed to prepare the graduate for immediate entry into a specific career field. In addition to the graduation requirements listed below, each degree has its own requirements for credit hours to be completed in various groups of courses. These requirements are shown on five separate charts in this section of the Catalog.
