EDUCATION
This recommended transfer program
for special education students meets the requirements for an associate
in arts degree and the recommendations of the Illinois Articulation special
education major panel. Students should check individual school requirements
before completing the curriculum as outlined. Admission into baccalaureate
special education programs is competitive; completion of these courses
alone does not guarantee admission.

- Students should check with the curriculum of the transfer school they
are considering.
- See associate in arts requirements listed in Harpers catalog.
- Select one physical and one life science course. At least one must
include a lab.
- Select at least one course from humanities and one from fine arts.
Interdisciplinary courses may count in either category. One literature
course is recommended.
- Select at least one 3 credit-hour course focusing on multicultural
and global perspectives in either the humanities and fine arts (HUM
103; LIT 208, PHI 160; PHI 205) or the social and behavioral sciences
group (GEG 103, HST 121, HST 243; PSC 280).
- HST 111 or HST 112 and PSC 101 are recommended.
- Some schools may require a foreign language.
- As part of the Illinois Articulation Initiative (Phase II), participating
schools will accept EDU 201, EDU 202 and PSY 228 in transfer; however,
they may or may not substitute for upper division professional course
work required for certification.
