Course description: A WebQuest is a guided task-oriented activity usually performed by a group. Most of the information the learners interact with is found in Internet-based resources. WebQuests can be used with both traditional classroom and online courses. This seminar will meet in two 1 hour sessions. In the first session, the concept of a WebQuest is introduced. In the second session, students bring their WebQuest designs to discuss and further develop. As part of the seminar, participants should be willing to develop a WebQuest for one of their courses. Scheduling Note: There should be a two to three week time span between the first and second session. Prerequisite: HTML familiarity or experience with FrontPage or Dreamweaver. |

Course description: This workshop explores use of two formatting options that prepare existing classroom materials for use on the Internet. Learn how to save documents in both Rich Text Format (RTF) and Portable Document Format (PDF) and how to provide the tools necessary for students to use these materials. Editing and converting PowerPoint slideshows to Web Format (HTML) will also be covered. Attendees should bring Microsoft Word and PowerPoint files saved on either a floppy disk or a Zip disk to this workshop. Prerequisite: Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint. |
