TEACHING AND LEARNING INNOVATION GRANT

2006-2007

Applications must be for projects that stimulate innovative approaches to teaching and learning. Funding is available to pay for activities that support innovative curriculum development. Funding is not provided for course development.

Proposal Deadlines: You may submit grant proposals on a monthly basis.
Proposals are reviewed on the 2nd Monday of every month through May 1, 2007.

TECHNOLOGY GRANT

2008-2009

Applications must be for discipline-specific, technology-related professional development projects. Funding may be available for projects that utilize technology as a tool in the teaching and learning process, including the development of material that may be available via the Internet or by other means. Funding may also be available for information gathering as to how to utilize technology as a tool in the teaching and learning process, such as attending related conferences or taking related courses.

Special consideration will be given to first time applicants and successful, continuing projects.

No capital equipment and no maintenance of Internet sites will be funded through these grants.

For information regarding reassigned time related to developing and teaching distance learning courses, see Article III, Section I 12f of the contract.

Full funding may not be available for all proposals. If that is the case, partial funding may be awarded.

INNOVATION MINI-GRANT

Philosophy:
The Innovation Mini-Grant award represents the belief that Harper College will be enriched by the encouragement and fostering of innovation throughout every level of our organization. The award's existence makes the statement that innovation is an important component to the positive growth of the College. Every employee at every level of the College is encouraged to take the initiative to be innovative for the greater benefit of all.

Amount:
$10,000 annually to be divided among selected proposals based on application information.

Application Deadlines:
September 15, November 15, February 15 and April 15 (later deadlines are pending funds remaining)

General Guidelines:
Any Harper employee(s) is encouraged to apply.

COLLEGE BENCHMARKING

The purpose of this initiative is to foster the development of new programs and innovative procedures at Harper College. Through this initiative, Harper College can fund a maximum of eight trips a year for teams of 2 to 4 faculty/staff to visit community colleges to learn more about innovative programs or procedures that have been developed at those colleges so that, when they are feasible and appropriate, their programs and/or procedures can be replicated at Harper College.

DoIT FACULTY FELLOWSHIP

Fellowships are intended for the development of an instructional technology project over the course of a single semester. This project should enhance the use of instructional technology and can be discipline-based or more generally broad based.

Up to three fellowships may be offered per semester with each carrying three hours of release time or a $3,000 stipend.

MULTICULTURAL FACULTY FELLOWSHIP

Fellowships are intended for the development of integration of multicultural learning into course syllabi or the development of new courses with mainly diverse content.
