Rhonda Gates and Peter Stanfield are Chicago-based artists with roots in the rural Midwest. The work of both artists possesses a structural edge that derives from their urban environment, softened by a poetic component. In Gates' paintings, constructed grids are the lenses through which we view natural open-air landscapes that invoke moods. The machined sculptures of Stanfield contain fictional bits of text inspired by his everyday personal observations. Both artists show nationally. Gates' is represented by Zg Gallery, Chicago, and Stanfield by Zolla/Lieberman, Chicago.
