Choirs

Harper College has a vibrant and growing vocal program that offers you the opportunity to participate in different Choirs and Choral Ensembles. You will find offerings to suit all levels of performance skills and experience from beginners through the advanced level.

Concert Choir
Concert Choir performs a variety of choral literature ranging from Plainchant through the Twentieth Century. The choir has appeared with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago String Ensemble and the Harper Symphony Orchestra. National broadcast performances include WGN Radio and Television. Other broadcast performances include Italian radio and television, Hungarian State Radio, and other Chicago–area radio and television stations. The choir performed in Carnegie Hall in May, 2006 and June, 2002. In 1997 the choir was one of two American Choirs selected to participate in the International Festival of Choirs in Siena and Florence, Italy. The Choir has traveled extensively and performed in Austria, the Czech Republic, England, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Scotland and Wales. The choir and choir members have participated in numerous ACDA festivals, honor choirs, demonstration choirs and clinics at the state, division and national levels. Audition required.

Camerata Singers
Camerata Singers is a select chamber ensemble for more advanced singers. Camerata performs literature from the Medieval through Contemporary Periods with a particular emphasis on the a cappella repertoire of the Renaissance and Twentieth Century.
Audition required.

Festival Chorus
Festival Chorus is a large non-select college/community chorus that performs masterworks with orchestra and soloists each semester.
Placement audition required.
