String Audition Requirements!
Music major level

Violin
1. Three octave major and minor scales and arpeggios from 3 sharps through 2 flats; memorized.
2. An etude from Kayser Op. 20; Fiorillo; or Mazas Op.36, Bk.1.
3. One movement from the following (or of comparable or greater difficulty): Handel, Sonata, Mozart, Concerto No.3; or Bach, Concerto in A minor.

Viola
1. Three octave major and minor scales and arpeggios from 3 sharps through 2 flats; memorized.
2. An etude from Kayser Op. 20; Fiorillo; or Mazas Op.36, Bk.1.
3. One movement from the following (or of comparable or greater difficulty): Telemann, Concerto; Marias, Five French dances; Handel, Concerto in B-flat; or Marcello, Sonata.

Cello
1. Major and minor scales 3 octaves
2. An etude (Poppin, DuPont, Klengel, etc.)
3. A movement from a sonata or suite or a movement from any concerto

String Bass
1. D, E, F & G Major scales, 2 octaves
2. Solo of choice displays contrasting styles ie> a slow and fast movement from a Baroque sonata
3. Any etude from the first volume of Sturm, Slama or Storch-Trabe.
