In Acting I, you get a basic understanding of the concept of acting. You do simple exercises to encourage the development of voice, body and mind in the creation of character. You learn the basic “terms and lingo” of the theatre and have an opportunity to work on monologues and scenes. This course is designed to accommodate both the beginner and those interested in refreshing skills that they may not have used in many years. Acting I can also benefit you if you have a hard time getting up in front of a group, or would like to improve your basic communication skills. Fulfills Special Electives-Group 6

Advanced acting is a course designed to give you further training specifically in the area of character development. You work on more complex acting exercises in class and look at a number of different play styles. The class concludes with a showcase of scenes which you work on through the course of the semester. The showcase is open to the public, providing an opportunity for you to perform in front of a live audience. Prerequisite: Acting I and consent of the instructor. Approved Elective Course -Group 7
