Reference Form
Ask a Librarian:
Harper E-mail Reference Service.
*NOTE: During the Summer, Reference Librarians will not be able to respond to your questions Friday, Saturday or Sunday. We will respond as quickly as possible on Monday.
E-mail Reference Service is now available to all students and
employees of Harper College.
Questions will be replied to within 24 hours except when the library is closed. E-mail Reference is available when classes
are in session.
When
asking a question please be as specific as possible,
include any relevant names, titles, course information,
assignments, etc
Also include any resources you
have already consulted. Some questions may be too difficult
or complex to be answered via e-mail. In those cases
a patron will be asked to visit the library so that
the question may be answered properly. The level of
service for e-mail questions will be the same as for
those asked in person.
Example
1: "I need articles on the Civil War."
This question is too broad. We have no idea of knowing
what might interest you or if a specific article would
be relevant to the aspect of the Civil War you are studying.
Example
2: "Can you help me find a journal article
that deals with General Lee's conduct at the battle
of Gettysburg? I have looked in Ebscohost and found
nothing." This question is far more specific and
mentions resources that you have consulted.
