Library Databases:
EBSCOhost: includes several databases that
contain psychology related information. On the library
home page under "Library Resources," choose "Articles, Indexes,
Databases" and select "EBSCOhost Premier." On the EBSCOhost
home page, select the green tab at the top of the
screen that says "Choose Databases." This will allow
you to search several databases at the same time or
you can search databases individually. The relevant
databases to consider:
PsycINFO : this database is the one most relevant
to psychology. It contains citations, abstracts,
and some full text articles from 1,300 journals,
conference proceedings, books, reports, and dissertations
in psychology and related disciplines. Coverage
is from 1887 to present. Most current articles and
information are full text, though not all.
CINAHL:
the authoritative resource for nursing and allied
health professionals, students, educators and researchers.
This database provides indexing for 1,835 journals
from the fields of nursing and allied health. The
database contains more than 1,000,000 records dating
back to 1982.
Health
Source: Nursing/Acad. Edition: This database
provides more than 550 scholarly full text journals
focusing on many medical disciplines. Health Source:
Nursing/Academic Edition also features abstracts
and indexing for nearly 850 journals. This database
is updated on a daily basis.
Psychology related information can also be found
in Academic Search Premier or ERIC.
FirstSearch allows you to search 15 different
databases. The most likely to be relevant is:
MEDLINE:
MedLine is available through the list of databases.
It is the electronic equivalent to the print indexes
Index Medicus, Index to Dental Literature, and International
Nursing Index. Includes thousands of records with
substantial abstracts

Maintained by Douglas Debelman, PhD at Vanguard University,
this site provides links to over 2000 psychology related
resources free on the Web. Includes links to full
text articles as well as access to abstracts from
numerous journals.
National
Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Illinois (http://il.nami.org/):
Contains current facts and statistics on mental illness
in Illinois; identifies local clinical resources;
provides articles and information regarding specific
disorders of childhood,adolescence and adulthood.
Some information on medications; current conferences
around the state and specific topics such as religion
and mental illness.
National
Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) (http://www.nimh.nih.gov/):
Current information on clinical trials, news and events,
and information for public, practitioners and researchers
of specific mental and behavioral disorders. The National
Institutes for Health (nih.gov) and the US Department
of Health and Human Services (also under NIH) also
have abstracts, citations, and some articles available.

Mental Health Association: Fact Sheets (http://www1.nmha.org/infoctr/factsheets/42.cfm):
Excellent resource for facts about many mental health
topics including specific disorders such as anxiety,
disorders of childhood, adolescence and adulthood;
and information about current research.

Part of the original virtual library project started
by Tim Berners-Lee, tracks online information in psychology.
Wide spectrum of topics. Current, authoritative, and
usually well maintained.
Social
Science Information Gateway (SOSIG): (http://www.sosig.ac.uk/psychology/)
SOSIG provides access to psychology resources on the
Internet provided that support the needs of social
scientists and psychologists in the UK academic community.
Each resource has been evaluated and categorized using
the APA PsycINFO coding scheme and the main focus
of coverage is on areas of psychology relevant to
the social sciences, not life sciences. Some resources
are pay-per-view but an excellent source of key words
and search terms for researching journal articles.
