Harper College Library offers a wide variety of online
resources to students who are searching for magazine,
journal and newspaper articles. Many of these databases
include some full-text articles, others provide only
citations and/or abstracts of articles.

EbscoHost
- Twenty-two databases from which to choose, search
several at one time. Highlights include: Academic Search
Complete, a general resource with many full-text articles;
MLA, the world's premier database of citations from
literary journals and books, a must for students doing
literary research; business Search
Elite, full-text articles from over 1,000 business periodicals;
PsycInfo, citations and abstracts for over one million
articles in the field of Psychology; Health Source,
both Nursing/Academic and Consumer, provides full-text
articles for the medical professional and the layperson.
FirstSearch
- 13 databases, mostly periodicals, but WorldCat
is the world's largest book catalog, allowing patrons
to search the catalogs of libraries world-wide.
Literature
Resource Center: The place to begin for online
research on authors and their works, and when searching
for literary criticism. This resource from Gale Publications
provides full-text reprinted articles from scholarly
literary journals and a number of excellent Reference
book series on Literature, Literary Biography and Literary
Criticism.
Literature Reference Center
Rich in biographical, bibliographical,
and critical content, the Literature Resource Center is the premier Internet resource for information on literary
figures from all time periods writing in such genres as
fiction, nonfiction, poetry, drama, history, journalism,
and more.
World Access News
- The electronic editions of record for valuable local, regional, and national U.S. newspapers as well as full-text content of key international sources.
College
Source - Over 15,000 college catalogs online,
plus college guides, links to college/university WWW
pages and more. An invaluable resource for students
needing to transfer to a four year college or university.
The
Oxford English Dictionary Online - the most
comprehensive dictionary in the English language.
Encyclopædia
Britannica - Encyclopædia Britannica Online
includes the complete encyclopedia, as well as Merriam-Webster's
Collegiate Dictionary and Thesaurus, Britannica Student
Encyclopedia and the Britannica Book of the Year. You
can also use Encyclopædia Britannica Online to
search an Internet directory that includes more than
300,000 links to Web sites selected, rated, and reviewed
by Britannica editors.
