Courses for Deaf/HH Students
There are a variety of self-contained classes for deaf and hard of hearing students, taught or supplemented by staff fluent in ASL, including but not limited to:
  • Remedial Math: MTH 050 and 060
  • Humanistic Psychology: PSY 107, offered periodically
  • Career Development: CDV 110, offered every other year
  • Deaf Culture: SGN 210, offered by the Sign Langauge department
  • Computer Information Systems: various CIS courses are offered
In addition, the College has offered specialized courses for Deaf/HH students to assist them in developing skills in English: reading and writing. The instruction in these classes is usually supplemented by outside tutoring by a person fluent in ASL. These courses are developmental English courses which can be taken for skill improvement or to prepare yourself for College level reading and writing, leading to a degree program, such as an A.A. or an A.S. degree. Contact the Coordinator of Deaf/HH Services for current information (voice: 847.925.6266; TTY: 847.397.7600).

  • The Deaf Club meets on a regular basis and conducts various recreational events
  • ADS hosts a popular annual DeaFest, including activities such as a high school Academic Bowl competition, educational panels, entertainment, and children events.
