Services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students

Access and Disability Services has been providing specialized services to students who are Deaf and hard of hearing since 1973, serving between 45 - 50 students each semester. Students benefit from the following services:
  • Intake interviews, evaluation, orientation and housing assistance for new students (students can be referred to potential roommates)
  • Academic advising, personal and career counseling, and job search services, and workshops by staff fluent in American Sign Language
  • Interpreting services for classes, tutoring sessions, and other related academic and social functions
  • Tutoring services on a limited basis
  • Notetaking services
  • Testing accommodations
  • FM listening devices, access to TTYs and other technology
Deaf/hh students should arrange an interview to discuss their career goals, discuss options for enrollment and plan for appropriate accommodations and involvement in specialized courses and programs.
