End Punctuation: Exclamation Point

The exlamation point is used to mark an emphatic statement or command. Since an exclamation point is used to mark a special effect of an utterance, it should be used sparingly. When it is used too much, the exclamation point loses its effectiveness.

"Help" she screamed, "I've fallen and I can't get up" (emphatic statement)

Stop (command)

Exclamation points are never used with other marks of punctuation such as commas, question marks, or periods.
