Hypertext Essay Markup Protocol

HEMP -- What is it?

The Hypertext Essay Markup Protocol is an online tool for marking common grammar and punctuation errors in a written document. After downloading a set of pre-recorded macros and copying them to the Normal.dot template in Microsoft Word, the reader inserts the appropriate macro at the site of an error which renders the selected text as a color-coded link to the HOWL Handbook page related to that error. The reader can then review the instructional page and make the necessary revision to correct the error.
