We’ve created a template called "HEMP2.DOT". Remember, HEMP is an acronym for Hypertext Essay Markup Protocol. To receive your copy of HEMP, go to the "Requesting HEMP" page, or email Harper College's Writing Center at bhardy@harper.cc.il.us. The "HEMP2.DOT" will be sent as an email attachment that you will open in Word.
Setting
up the macros
First, open the "hemp2.dot"
in Word, but when you do, you will probably see this "Warning!"
telling you that the document contains macros, and of course it does.
Remember, that's what HEMP
is, a template of macros. To access HEMP,
click "Open."

Next, select the "Tools" menu and then "Macro, Macros."

The list of grammar error macros should appear on the left side.

Click on "Organizer," and then click on "Copy" to copy the "hemmacros" file to the Normal.dot template which will enable you to use the macros with any document opened in Word at your workstation.

Using
the macros
Once you have the macros,
the markup is easy. Open the document to be marked in Word.
At the point in the text where an error occurs, select or block the appropriate
text. Next, select Tools, Macro, Macros (or Alt F8); select the desired
macro and click on "Run." The selected text will be rendered as an underlined
hypertext link of the appropriate color. When finished marking, save the
document, and email it back to the writer.
