Harper College's Writing Center Services

The Writing Center provides:

an instructional workshop environment centered on writers and writing
scheduling of selected computer classrooms and instructional support
consultations with professional staff for writers and teachers of writing
orientation and introduction to computer classroom hardware and software
instruction and support for writers and instructors using technology tools

Specific services include:

editing assistance and suggestions*
answers to specific grammar and punctuation questions*
HOWL (Harper's On-Line Writing Lab) http://www.harpercollege.edu/writ_ctr/
collaboration with other writers
instructional support for faculty using the Daedalus Integrated Writing Environment
help with creating a bibliography

*Assistance is limited, does not provide comprehensive evaluations, editing, or proofreading services and may not be used in place of prerequisite coursework in composition. Students in need of extended remediation are referred to Tutoring, appropriate coursework, or to their instructor.
