Linking a Playlist from Films on Demand

 
 
Create a playlist of video clips with Films on Demand:   Films On Demand is a digital video platform offering nearly 6,000 education films online. Publishers include: Films for the Humanities, Discovery Education, HBO, BBC Active and more.
1.  Go to the Library website: http://dept.harpercollege.edu/library
Click on "Streaming Media".

     
2. Choose "Films on Demand" from the list of streaming options.

  • Click "User Log In" at the top of the webpage.
  • Choose "Don't have a User ID? Click here to create one."
  • Use your Harper email address to create an account.

  • Search by segment or title to find a film.
  • Use the subject folders on the left to find a film.
  • Perform an advanced search limiting to title, subject, copyright   etc.

  • Review results.
  • Choose a segment to add to a playlist. 
  • Click on the "plus" sign underneath the segment to add to a playlist.

  • If you click on the segment title/hyperlink your screen will look like this.
  • The film title on the right is, Africa to America to Paris: The Migration of Black Writers. The segment I'd like to link to is called, James Baldwin (04:59).
  • Click on the  Playlist tab to add the segment to your playlist.
 
     

7.

  • When you click on the  Playlist tab, the selected segment will be highlighted.
  • You'll see a drop down list of existing playlists you have created. 
  • You'll see the option to "Create a new playlist."  Use this option if you have not yet created a playlist. 
  • You may want to name the playlist after your course, for example, ENGLISH 102.

 

 

 

 

 
     

8. 

  • Continue to add segments to your Playlist.
  • Add segments from within the same film or other films.

 

 

 

 
     
9.  To add your playlist to Blackboard, click the "My Playlists" tab at the top of the screen.  Make sure you are logged in.  
     
11. Copy the playlist URL into Blackboard.  
     
12.  Add the Playlist URL into Blackboard as an "External Link" or as an "Item" with some description.  

(Go to the Control Panel, navigate to the appropriate place, and select "External Link" or "Item".)
