Harper Hosts Information Sessions for Prospective Adult Students
When Angela Piermarini graduates from Harper College this year, it will be a milestone four decades in the making. The Schaumburg resident, who took her first college courses as a teen in the 1970s before taking on a job and raising her daughter, relied on Harper's accelerated Fast Track adult program to finish her goal of a higher education credential.
This month, the College will host free informational meetings focused on building similar success stories. A session for prospective adult students is at 9 a.m. Saturday, February 23 in Room A243 of Building A on the main campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road in Palatine. A separate session specifically addressing the Fast Track adult program will be offered at 6 p.m. Thursday, February 28 in Room 122 of the Harper Professional Center, 650 E. Higgins Road in Schaumburg. Both will provide overviews of Harper's degrees and certificates and allow interested adults to meet with admissions representatives for details on getting started on a higher education credential.
"This is something I've always wanted to achieve," says Piermarini, whose daughter - now an adult herself - also returned to Harper for an associate degree before transferring to Southern Illinois University with an eye on a new career. "It is rewarding to say, 'You know, I've done this.'"
Harper's Fast Track program offers an accelerated Business Administration associate degree and accelerated certificates in general and advanced management, health insurance billing, human resource management and supply chain management. The College overall boasts more than 50 degree programs.
