New Partnership Allows for Online Culinary Certificates
Students looking to pick up some extra cooking prowess can do so on the web, thanks to a newly launched partnership between Harper College's Continuing Education Department and Escoffier Online International Culinary Academy.
The deal gives students direct access to Escoffier's online culinary program, and the opportunity to earn a Continuing Education culinary arts certificate nearly entirely via the internet. It also adds a new dimension to an already robust menu of culinary courses offered through Harper's Continuing Education department.
"We are always looking for innovative ways to expand our offerings to meet growing demand," Continuing Education Manager Scott Cashman says. "We felt this partnership offered the most modern way to deliver a proven culinary program to our students, as part of a continued effort to make learning accessible." He says the new program could prove ideal for students with a variety of skill levels and aspirations, from budding foodies set on enhancing their kitchen skills to those seeking a job in a restaurant kitchen or toying with the idea of professional chef training.
Harper is Escoffier Online's first higher education partner. The courses are offered largely in video tutorial format, with instructors demonstrating pastry and culinary techniques to logged-in students and also delivering one-on-one online interaction. Registration is open now.
