Harper College hosts nursing symposium
March 31, 2014
Now in its 45th year, Harper College’s Nursing program has graduated thousands of students who’ve gone on to provide quality care for clients in a variety of health care settings. Many are expected to return for the College’s fourth annual Nursing Alumni Symposium to continue their goal of lifelong learning and pass along some words of wisdom to current students.
The symposium, which is open to the entire medical community, will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at the Wojcik Conference Center on Harper’s main campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road in Palatine.
“We’re striving to build a strong network of alumni who can come back to see how the program has evolved over the years,” Nursing Director Julie D’Agostino said. “Our current students also benefit from networking and seeing where past graduates have gone.”
Keynote speaker Nancy Spector, Director of Regulatory Innovations at the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, will address the impact of social media on nursing and discuss how nurses can manage social media responsibly. This year’s event will also include panel discussions, tours of the College’s state-of-the-art simulation hospital and a Continuing Education fair.
The symposium fee is $25 and includes breakfast, lunch and materials. To register by April 16, call 847.925.6490 or visit harpercollege.edu/alumni.
