Area residents are invited to tee off in the name of student success at the Harper College Educational Foundation’s 26th Annual Golf Open, which raises critical funding for scholarships and programming campus-wide. The outing will take place Monday, June 9, at the Inverness Golf Club, 102 N. Roselle Road. It includes 18 holes of golf, brunch, a cocktail reception, buffet dinner and awards presentation.
Tim Tyrrell, a former NFL player and current Director of Market Development for Pirch Kitchen and Bath Fixtures, will be the special guest speaker at the awards dinner. Tyrrell’s seven-year career in the NFL got its start in 1980, when he walked onto the Harper College football team and not long after, became star quarterback. He was among Harper’s 2013 class of Distinguished Alumni.
Individual golfers can play for $500; foursomes and sponsorships are also available. An evening-only package for the cocktail reception and dinner is available for $125. The Open will feature a raffle and live auction, with prizes including food and golf packages, a penthouse suite to a Bulls or Blackhawks game and a five-day getaway to Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains.
Raffle tickets are available for $20 or three for $50. Proceeds benefit Harper's Resource for Excellence Fund, which aids the College with programming, scholarships and other support where it's most needed, amid decreased state funding. The Open starts with a 10 a.m. registration and brunch, followed by an 11:30 a.m. shotgun start.
The Golf Open planning committee is chaired by Educational Foundation board member Jay Fritz, Managing Director at Cornerstone National Bank. To attend the event, purchase raffle tickets, become a sponsor or make donation, call 847.925.6490 or visit harpercollege.edu/foundation.
