HSO to perform holiday classics

The Harper Symphony Orchestra will perform several holiday classics during a family-friendly concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, at the Performing Arts Center on the College's main campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road in Palatine.

Led by Musical Director Brian Groner, the Harper Symphony Orchestra will perform Leroy Anderson's "Christmas Festival Overture" and "Sleigh Ride," Heather Anderson's "Hanukkah Festival," Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite No. 1 and a rousing holiday sing-along.

Groner is also Music Director of the Fox Valley Symphony in Wisconsin and the Conductor of the String Orchestra at Northeastern Illinois University. As an active guest conductor, he has appeared on the podium for many notable ensembles including The San Diego Symphony, The Czech National Symphony Orchestra (Prague), The Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra (China), The International Contemporary Ensemble and The Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra. He has also toured as conductor for The Moscow Classical Ballet. His concerts have been broadcast via satellite by National Public Radio in more than 50 major radio markets across the nation.
