Popular holiday performances approaching

Two of Harper College’s most popular holiday performances are approaching.

The Festival Chorus, which is part of Harper’s Community Music Center, will put on “A Christmas Concert” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4. Under the direction of Gregory Tipps, the chorus will perform classical, contemporary and seasonal works accompanied by a professional orchestra. Tickets are $12 to $18 with free admission for children five and under.

One week later, the Harper Symphony Orchestra will present “A Seasonal Celebration” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11. Under the direction of William Anthony Porter, the orchestra will perform select music of the season and a rousing holiday singalong in this family-friendly concert. Tickets are $10 to $15 with free admission for children 12 and under.

Both concerts take place at the Performing Arts Center on the College’s main campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road in Palatine.
