Harper seeks volunteers for free ultrasounds

Students perform an ultrasoundHarper College’s Diagnostic Cardiac and Medical Sonography programs are seeking volunteers interested in receiving free ultrasounds.

Exams include echocardiograms of the heart (participants must be at least 18 years old) and obstetrical ultrasounds (participants must be at least 18 weeks pregnant).

Appointments will be available on select days between January 24 and April 12.

The free exams, which each last about an hour, are performed by students under the supervision of a registered diagnostic medical and cardiac sonographer. Harper’s program conforms to all patient safety regulations.

The tests are non-diagnostic. Volunteers will not receive a medical report but may be instructed to follow up with a physician. Obstetric ultrasound volunteers may receive a copy of their exam’s 2D/3D images.
