Harper College will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day.
The Harper College Police Department Community Engagement Team and Harper’s Campus
Crusade for Christ are joining forces with Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) to help
provide nutritious meals to children facing hunger around the world. Harper volunteers
will participate in a meal-packing event, 4:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, at the
FMSC Schaumburg site, 740 Wiley Farm Court.
During the event, volunteers will work together to hand-pack MannaPack meals, which will be boxed and shipped to FMSC food distribution partners around the world. The event is part of National Faith & Blue Weekend, a nationwide initiative dedicated to building safer, stronger and more unified communities by fostering partnerships among law enforcement, residents, businesses and faith-based organizations.
“The Faith & Blue movement, which is supported by the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, provides a valuable opportunity to foster meaningful relationships between law enforcement and faith organizations,” said Harper’s Chief of Police John Lawson. “This meal-packing event is a great example of what can happen when we come together to serve others. It provides an opportunity for our officers, students and members of the Harper community to work side by side while making a difference for children and families around the world.”
