The Suzuki method is based on applying basic principles of language acquisition to music in an environment that facilitates learning. The ideas of parent responsibility, loving encouragement, and constant repetition are some of the special features of the Suzuki approach.
Starting this summer, the Community Music and Arts Center will offer the Suzuki violin program. Children ages 4 to 7 will have a weekly private lesson and a weekly group class. They will learn to play the violin with the Mother-Tongue method in a positive, cooperative environment facilitated by trained Suzuki faculty who provide the highest quality private and group-class instruction.
A parent must be actively involved in all aspects of the child’s musical development and attend all lessons. Parents will be coached into becoming the home teacher. The tuition includes a private lesson, as well as one or more group classes. No prior musical experience is necessary.
The Center will host an open house to meet the teachers and learn more about the Suzuki method on Saturday, June 6 at 3:00 pm and Tuesday, June 9 at 7:00 pm.
Tuition and Fees: $625 per 15 weeks (One 50-minute group lesson plus one 50-minute private lesson per week.)
