Road Trip Eats Along Route 66 with Leslie Goddard

U.S. Route 66 covers a lot of miles – and that means a lot of delicious food along the way. In this illustrated lecture, historian Leslie Goddard explores some of the most iconic restaurants and foods found along the “Mother Road.” Many Route 66 foods are regional dishes, providing an edible snapshot of the nation. Others developed specifically to serve time-crunched motorists. We’ll visit landmark Route 66 destinations like the Big Texan Steak Ranch, Ted Drewes’ Frozen Custard, and the Cozy Dog Drive In. You’ll learn about some quirky foods found along the highway and get recipes for a few regional favorites you can recreate at home.

NEW series for Spring 2021: Bring Your Own Book aka BYOB

Unlike most book clubs where everyone reads the same title, in BYOB you pick the book you want to read and share.  BYOB meets once a month to talk about books, old and new, and share reading recommendations.  This is a great chance to learn about titles and genres you might not otherwise consider.  Whether you’re eager to chat up a new favorite, or just want to listen to the conversation, all are welcome to join!  Each session will start with a special guest booklover sharing their tips.  Looking for book suggestions?  Contact Christine @ ckuffel@harpercollege.edu

Here are the dates, times, links, and special guests for each month:
