CDL Class A Truck Driver Training

Truck drivers are needed now more than ever, making this a great time to enter a fast-growing field. The 240-hour class provides the best preparation for licensure and your job search, and the 160-hour course also meets all of the minimum Illinois CDL A License requirements.

240-hour Truck Driver Training

The 240-hour CDL A license course meets all Illinois requirements of 160 training hours plus 80 additional hours. Includes pre-trip inspections, yard skills practice, highway driving, road tests, in addition to advanced trip planning, logs/other documentation, plus advanced cargo handling and shipping. Students can obtain doubles and triples and tanker endorsements. The Hazmat endorsement is optional with an additional $89.50 paid directly to the vendor providing service. Prerequisite: To enroll in this course, you must be pre-approved.

160-hour Truck Driver Training

The 160-hour CDL A license course meets all Illinois requirements. Includes permit test, pre-trip inspections, yard skills practice, highway driving and road tests. Students demonstrate the CDL laws, use of controls, safe driving techniques and defensive driving. Hazmat endorsement is optional with an additional $89.50 paid directly to the vendor providing service. Successful completion allows individuals to sit for the Illinois CDL A exam. Prerequisite: To enroll in this course, you must be pre-approved.

Program Requirements

To enroll in this program, you must meet the following requirements:

  • 21 years of age or older (Those18 years old may enter the program, but may have limited job-placement opportunities.)
  • Provide a copy of your Motor Vehicle Report (court abstract) from Secretary of State Office, $12 (online or in person)
  • Read and write the English language
  • Meet physical requirements of DOT (Federal Department of Transportation)
  • Provide your valid driver’s license at the time of registration
  • Pay $50 permit fee directly to the State of Illinois

Please note: Deaf students are encouraged to request the required FMCSA Waiver early. It can take up to 180 days from the time of the request to receive this mandatory document.
