Access and Disability Services
Access and Disability Services (ADS) works to provide the highest level of access and services, ensuring all students can equally participate in the great opportunities available at Harper College. Our staff of seasoned professionals actively engages in opportunities to increase access, improve services to students, collaborate with faculty and staff, and coordinate multiple educational and social events throughout the year.
Responsibility and Mission
Access and Disability Services is responsible for providing legally mandated access and accommodations. Reasonable accommodations and services are available to Harper students, staff and visitors with disabilities in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and other laws. Accommodations and services may include academic accommodations, such as extended testing time, a note taker for class, access accommodations such as a sign language interpreter or captionist, assistive technology and disability advising.
Access and Disability Services advocates for positive change that makes Harper College more universally accessible. In order to ensure access and accommodations that inspire students to attain their academic goals, ADS staff and our campus partners actively work to reduce barriers in the physical, electronic, and social environments of the campus. Our work helps set the foundation for success by ensuring broad access and support.
