Be Prepared: Pre-Orientation Guide

 Your orientation will include:

  • Placement Testing
  • Completion of an Online Orientation Module
  • Phone Advising
  • Registration

After submitting your application, please log into the MyHarper Portal and review your next steps in your "New Student Checklist". 

What You Need to Know Before Orientation

1. Financial Planning

Maximize your financial aid awards. File the FAFSA as early as possible at fafsa.ed.gov.  Check your Financial Aid status on your Getting Started tab in your Student Portal. Questions? Contact the One Stop.

On the Finances page of your Student Portal, check out information on scholarships and college resources, including payment dates and methods.

Payment arrangements are due when you register for courses.

2. Submit Your Transcripts

Submit sealed, official high school transcripts. Prior college credit? Submit official college transcripts to Harper.

3. Academic Planning and Course Selection

As part of Orientation, you will be introduced to Degree Works, a tool used to map out your plan to completion.

New students are expected to enroll in a math, English, and Start Smart course their first semester. View information on available Start Smart courses.
