Your orientation will include:

  • Placement Testing
  • Advising
  • Registration

After submitting your application, please log into the MyHarper Student Portal and review your next steps in your "New Student Checklist". This video will help you if you have questions or concerns about Placement Testing.

What You Need to Know Before You Go

1. Financial Planning

Maximize your financial aid awards. File the FAFSA as early as possible at fafsa.ed.gov.  Check your Financial Aid status on your Getting Started tab in your Student Portal. Questions? Contact the One Stop at 847.925.6710.

In the My Plan section of your Student Portal, check out the resources under Financial Planning for information on Scholarships and College Resources, including payment dates and methods.

Payment arrangements are due when you register at Orientation.

2. Submit Your Transcripts

Submit sealed, official high school transcripts. Prior college credit? Submit official college transcripts to Harper then submit a request for your prior college credit to be evaluated.

3. Academic Planning and Course Selection

Planning to transfer? View transfer resources to help guide you.

At Orientation, you will be introduced to Degree Works, a tool used to map out your plan to completion.

New students are encouraged to enroll in a Start Smart course their first semester. View information on available Start Smart courses.
