Harper College offices will be closed Monday, September 2 in observance of Labor Day.
Harper College is inviting community members interested in helping to define the college’s strategic focus to participate in an upcoming event. Strategic Plan Dialogue Session: The Changing Landscape of Work will take place from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Friday, September 13, at Harper’s Wojcik Conference Center, 1200 W. Algonquin Road, Palatine.
A panel of experts will offer insights about employment trends from artificial intelligence and remote work to the coming retirement surge and the value of diversity in the workplace. The panelists will discuss that many of the jobs that will be available in 2035 don’t yet exist, then consider how the skills necessary for these roles need to be developed. The event will include opportunities for broad participation and sharing.
“We are excited to welcome everyone to this dialogue session, which is one in a series of events that will help Harper College develop its next strategic plan over the course of the 2024-25 academic year,” said Darlene Schlenbecker, vice president of planning, research and institutional effectiveness. “Because Harper is truly our community’s college, we encourage members of our district to participate in shaping our institution’s goals to meet the education and workforce challenges of the future.”
The event is free and open to everyone. RSVP is preferred. Attendees should park in Lot 14. For more information, contact strategicplanning@harpercollege.edu.
