Harper joins second annual Feed the Need Food Drive

Feed the Need logoHarper College has joined the Illinois Community College Board’s Feed the Need Food Drive, which runs from Wednesday, October 15, through Tuesday, November 25.

The Feed the Need Food Drive, in its second year, aims to support those experiencing food insecurity within our communities and on Harper’s campus. It is a friendly competition among participating colleges and Harper is honored and excited to be a part of this cause. Donations will help stock the campus pantry at the Hawks Care Resource Center.

You can drop off your donations at any of the following campus locations:

  • Student Engagement, A336
  • Subway, Avanté Center
  • Cockrell Dining Hall, Building A
  • Hawks Care Resource Center, D204
  • Health and Recreation Center, Building M main desk
  • Box Office, Building R lobby
  • Wojcik Conference Center, Building W lobby
  • Health Careers/Medical Imaging Lab, X134

Below are common donations to Harper’s campus pantry:

  • granola bars
  • dry pasta
  • macaroni and cheese (boxes and single-serve cups)
  • soup/broth (cans, boxes, mixes and single-serve cups)
  • pancake mix
  • cereal (boxes and single-serving boxes)
  • oatmeal (boxes, cannisters and single-serving cups)
  • nut butter
  • canned fruit or vegetables
  • canned chicken or tuna

Food insecurity is a pressing issue at Harper and other college campuses. In the most recent nationwide Student Basic Needs Survey of more than 70,000 college students, 41% said they experienced food insecurity. By participating in this drive, we can help ensure that Harper students will not experience hunger.
