Harper College will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day.

Harper College will welcome some of the region’s top collegiate runners when it hosts the NJCAA Region IV Cross Country Championships on Saturday, October 31, at the Plum Grove Reservoir on Harper’s Palatine campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road.
It marks the first time in more than a decade that Harper has hosted the regional competition, which is expected to feature 13 teams. The women’s 5K race will begin at 11 a.m. followed by the men’s 8K race at noon. Spectators are welcome to cheer on the Hawks and should park in Lot 2.
This year’s regionals will provide an opportunity for the Hawks to compete at home. Harper’s men’s cross country team enters the meet as the defending regional and national champion, while two members of last year’s women’s team earned All-American honors.
Individual awards will be presented to the top five runners in Divisions II and III and team trophies will recognize the top three Division II teams and the top two Division III teams. The event will also serve as Sophomore Day for several Harper runners, recognizing their contributions to the college’s cross country program.
Harper football alumnus Dr. Guy Danhoff will serve as the day’s announcer. Harper Athletics is collaborating with multiple local businesses to host the event. Schaumburg’s Donut Drop is providing coaches and officials hospitality, Palatine Pack Timing will handle race results and Dick Pond Athletics in Hoffman Estates will provide fencing and other equipment.
