The director of Harper’s Center for Global Education and Engagement will travel to India in October for a program focused on the country’s higher education and research system.

Johnson was awarded the prestigious fellowship within the Fulbright Scholar Program that recognizes higher education leaders committed to advancing international education and global engagement. The Fulbright-Nehru International Education Administrators Award is a two-week, fully funded professional development seminar that provides U.S. higher education leaders with an in-depth understanding of India’s higher education system while fostering international partnerships and collaboration.

“Receiving a Fulbright International Education Administrators Award is a tremendous honor,” Johnson said. “I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to engage with colleagues in India. I look forward to learning from their approaches to higher education and student success and bringing new ideas and partnerships back to Harper.”

The program will include briefings, campus visits, meetings with government officials and international education professionals, networking opportunities and cultural activities. Participants gain valuable insights into academic structures, quality assurance practices and global engagement strategies, helping strengthen their institutions’ capacity for international education and cross-cultural learning.

The Fulbright Program is the U.S. government’s flagship international educational and cultural exchange program, fostering mutual understanding through academic and professional exchanges in more than 160 countries. Participating governments and host institutions, corporations and foundations around the world also provide direct and indirect support to the program. The Institute of International Education implements the Fulbright U.S. Student and U.S. Scholar Programs on behalf of the U.S. Department of State.
