Harper College is closed Friday, July 3, for Independence Day (Observed).
The Integrated Career and Academic Preparation System (ICAPS) is a free program for eligible students designed to prepare them for high-demand careers. Through ICAPS, students can earn college credits, develop valuable workforce skills, and receive job placement assistance to help launch their careers.
ICAPS classes are designed for students enrolled in Adult Education and Career Technical Education classes who are seeking a high school equivalency and are pursuing workforce training in high-demand occupations. The program also serves advanced Adult English Language Acquisition (ELA) learners, providing opportunities to strengthen English language skills while earning industry-recognized credentials.
This collaborative model helps students build the academic, technical, and employability skills needed for success in college and the workforce.
You are enrolled in a support class at the same time you take credit-bearing career/vocational courses.
Each course is taught by two instructors: an Adult Education/ICAPS instructor who provides academic support and a Career and Technical Education (CTE) instructor who delivers occupation-specific training.
Credits and certificates earned often count directly toward a degree if you choose to continue your education.
After earning a certificate through the ICAPS program, students can enter the workforce or pursue additional certificates or an associate degree. Additional stackable certifications are available in most program areas for students who wish to continue their studies. Staff will guide you to your next steps.
One of the best things about ICAPS is that it’s designed with your future in mind. The program focuses on preparing you for real, in-demand careers by providing the skills and support employers are looking for. Whether you’re just entering the workforce or ready to make a career change, ICAPS can help you build the confidence, training, and experience you need to take the next step toward a rewarding future.
Taking the first step is easier than you might think.
