Note: Official documents are those sent directly from the institution to Harper College via Parchment or US mail (emailed transcripts are not considered official)

Official High School Transcript OR High School Equivalency (HSE) Results - MANDATORY-

The final high school transcript must have the graduation date posted, or the HSE report must show passing scores.

  • The high school transcript is mandated by the State of Illinois through the Joint Committee of Administrative Rules, regardless of higher degrees earned.
  • Applicants who have completed high school in another country need to submit a documentto-document evaluation of their high school transcript completed by Educational CredentialEvaluators, INC (ECE) www.ece.org or World Education Services (WES) www.wes.org stating U.S. Equivalence: High school diploma.

Official College Transcripts-

If the transcripts show completion of courses, you think mayfulfill course admission requirements or support course work applicable to the Harper College EMT Program, you will need to submit them to the One Stop Office.

  • This requirement is not mandatory
  • Foreign college transcripts must first be evaluated by World Education Services (wes.org) or Educational Credential Evaluators, INC (ece.org). A copy of the completed course-by-course WES or ECE evaluation must be submitted to the Harper College One Stop Center, Building A, Room A250.
  • Applicants must have an official transcript from each college or university attended sent to
    Admissions Processing for transfer credit evaluation. Please visit:

  • Official transcripts will be evaluated as they are received, and students will be sent an email
    to their Harper email account with transfer credit results.

Proof of Meeting the Minimum Age Requirement

  • Fall semester applicants must be at least 18 years of age by October 1st. (No exceptions)
  • Spring semester applicants must be at least 18 years of age by May 15th. (No exceptions)
  • Acceptable proof includes a driver’s license, passport, or state ID. The official high school transcript can also be used for age verification.

Program Prerequisites

  1. Harper Grade Point Average
    Current or previously enrolled Harper students must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average at the time of application.
  2. English / Reading Placement – No English course is needed if you demonstrate placement into ENG 096 at Harper College, or another college (through transfer credit) by completing one of the testing or course options listed below:
  • ACT English score of 19 or higher AND ACT Reading score of 20 or higher (scores valid 3 years from exam date)
  • SAT English score of 480 or higher (scores valid 3 years from exam date)
  • Harper College Writing/Reading Assessment Test resulting in placement into ENG 096 without a reading co-requisite.
  • ENG 101 transfer credit
  • Aligned high school ENG course with a grade of C or higher from districts 211, 214, or 220
  • Successful completion of a college level, Harper College ENG Dual Credit course
  • Advanced Placement credit with a score of 3 or higher
  • Cumulative unweighted high school GPA of 3.0 (on a 4-point scale) or 4.0 (on a 5-point scale)
  • There is no expiration date on the English Composition course.

Admission Decisions

  • Class selection is based on file completion date. Spring 2026 applicants must be complete by December 19, 2025.
  • Applicants whose files are complete by or before the deadline will receive an email with instructions on how to accept their seat and register for the classes, as well as information regarding the mandatory orientation session.
  • An email will be sent to your Harper email address and/or the address provided on the application.

Important Admission Notes

  • Once your program application has been processed you will be able to monitor your limited enrollment file online. Go to harpercollege.edu and log into your MyHarper Student Portal; limited enrollment information can be found under the Registration and Records section. (Do not click on the Imaging Application.)
  • It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that all requirements are met and all documentation is on file.
  • All applicants will be considered and sent an email regarding their status in the program.
  • Students who apply for this limited enrollment program are obligated to meet current admission requirements and follow the program curriculum as defined at the time of acceptance into the program.
  • If the program should remain open past the application deadline, the mandatory EMT orientation information will be sent to you by the lead instructor, and all applicants MUST attend.
  • Students who are accepted into the EMT program will be required to provide evidence of health insurance coverage and have a physical exam and several health screening tests prior to admission to clinical areas. In addition, accepted students will be required to undergo a criminal background check. Students will receive information regarding these requirements at orientation.
  • Applicants not accepted into the program who wish to be considered in the selection process for a subsequent semester must reapply.
  • The EMT program is fewer than 16 credit hours and therefore is not covered by Financial Aid.
