photo of Erik HorvatErik Horvat is Managing Director and Head of Real Estate – Americas for The Olayan Group, a family run global investor and operator.  Mr. Horvat leads acquisitions, dispositions and asset management for a diverse real estate portfolio of direct assets, entity level investments and fund / co-investments.  He also serves on advisory boards for numerous top real estate opportunity funds.

Prior to Olayan, he was Managing Director at Fosun International, one of the largest private conglomerates in China, where he was responsible for establishing and leading a multi-billion dollar US real estate practice focused primarily on office and retail assets.  Mr. Horvat also served as Head of World Trade Center Redevelopment for the Port Authority of NY & NJ, overseeing all finance, development, leasing and operational activities for the 14 million sf project – one of the largest mixed-use developments in New York City’s history.

Before his work on the World Trade Center, Mr. Horvat was co-founder and Managing Partner of Manhattan-based Acre Properties, led the redevelopment of Port Imperial South in Weehawken, NJ for Lennar and was a Vice President of Development for Edison Properties. Mr. Horvat is on the Columbia Business School MBA Real Estate Program Advisory Board and is a Council Member with the Urban Land Institute. Mr. Horvat studied accounting at Harper College and transferred to Purdue University earning a BS in the same field.  He also received an MBA from Columbia Business School.
