Harper hosts Futures in Tech event spotlighting Black achievement in AI and cybersecurity

Black leaders in technology are featured along with the title of the eventHarper College will host Futures in Tech: Innovators Standing on the Shoulders of Giants, celebrating contributions Black individuals have made to technology with a special focus on AI and cybersecurity. The event is set for 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday, Feb. 25 in the Wojcik Conference Center, 1200 W. Algonquin Road, Palatine. The program is free and open to everyone. Registration is encouraged.

The interactive event is designed to inspire students and community members interested in high-demand tech fields. Attendees will hear from industry professionals, participate in a panel discussion and engage in a Q&A session, all aimed at highlighting pathways into technology careers. Speakers will share resources for pursuing industry-recognized certifications, internships and real-world job opportunities in sectors where demand – and earning potential – continues to grow.

Futures in Tech offers more than conversation; it provides practical guidance from people working in the field today. The event is geared to anyone interested in exploring technology careers, from students considering majors to working professionals looking to pivot into tech roles. The program will emphasize how emerging technologies like AI and cybersecurity shape the future of work and how individuals can prepare for success in these areas.
