Beginning his career in 1974 working for both municipal and fire protection district fire departments, Professor Sam Giordano is a veteran of the Fire Service. He holds an AAS Degree in Fire Science Technology, BS in Occupational Safety and Health, and MBA in Public Administration.
Professor Giordano holds numerous Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal "OSFM" and National certifications including Fire Officer III, Fire Instructor III, Incident Safety Officer, Hazardous Materials Specialist, Fire-Arson Investigation, Fire Inspector/Prevention Officer, and Training Program Manager.
Additionally, Professor Giordano is a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the International Society of Fire Service Instructors, Illinois Fire Chiefs Association, Illinois Society of Fire Service Instructors, Illinois Association of Arson Investigators, National Fire Academy Alumni Association, and the Fire Department Safety Officers Association.
Professor Giordano serves as the Program Coordinator for the Fire Science Technology, Emergency-Disaster Management, and the 911 Public Safety Dispatcher programs at Harper College since 2002.
Moreover, Professor Giordano is a former member of Toastmasters International, and past President of the Lincoln-Way Toastmasters chapter. He holds numerous awards and certifications including Toastmaster Gold and Advanced Leader. He is currently an active member of Kiwanis International as a Distinguished President for the Kiwanis Club of Frankfort and Distinguished Lt. Governor for Kiwanis Division 23.
