Always dreamt of seeing the world? Now you can...from Harper!
In the Armchair Travel Series experienced travellers will detail the ins-and-outs of your top bucket list destinations. Get covetted tips, travel hacks, and hidden gems few others know about. Our speakers should know, each has personally traveled to the destination being presented.
Come curious, ask questions, leave with the travel bug and ideas for your own itinerary. The Library will also display books set in the country being presented on and written by authors native to each country so you can continue exploring on your own.

Love maps? Have a hankering for vexilology? Really like to win?
Come test your knowledge with Global Trivia! This trivia competition with an international twist will have a little bit of everything. Four rounds, five questions each, but only one winner. Questions related to every continent and spanning geography, language, and even flags will be asked. Get a team together, or compete on your own! Open to staff, faculty, and students alike, it is really anyone's game!The top two teams will get prizes!
Be sure to sign up before October 14th for an extra point, and see you on Thursday, October 22nd at 3:30pm in the Building A Atrium!

Wondering how to include your international experiences such as study abroad, employment, projects, volunteering, service learning, and education on your resume? Do you need a resume for study abroad scholarships? If so, join the Job Placement Resource Center on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at 12:00 pm, Building D Room D139 to learn how to showcase your skills, experience, and accomplishments. Participants will receive practical tips, resume best practices, and guidance on creating a polished, professional resume. Whether you are job searching or preparing for future opportunities, this workshop can help you prepare to stand out.

From 11:00am to 1:00pm on Monday, October 19th to Thursday October 22nd in Avanté,, stop by our Language Tables to learn how gaining foreign language skills can help you land a job, enrich your traveling expereince, and open doors for international job, internship, and service opportunities. Plus, see how languages gve you insights into people, places, and cultures far beyond Harper's campus. Learn about classes you can take, faculty-led study abroadtrips you can apply for (with scholarships!) and the many ways languages at Harper can bring the world right to you!
Want to take students abroad but unsiure where to start? Do you feel your class would benefit from a trip, but you are intimidated by the concept of taking students outside the classroom? Join fellow Harper faculty experienced with taking students abroad as they go over the process, give tips and tricks, and calm your nerves. Build your Study Abroad on Monday, October 19th at 11:00am in Building D Room D174. Come on by and let us take you, well, anywhere!
International exchange is not just for students! Fellow faculty member Professor Marie Lapidus is joined by her Finnish collegue Heikki Paivenen to share an exciting opportunity for faculty: the 2-Week Exchange through the Illinois Consortium of International Studies and Programs (ICISP). As part of this program, Heikki is visiting Harper from his native Finalnd for two weeks to learn about the community college structure, US culture, and develop professional partnerships he can take back home. In May of 2027, Marie will do the same thing in Finland. This is a special program through ICISP and available to faculty of any discipline. Come to the Library, Room F226 on Wednesday, October 21st at 1:00pm to learn more about this exciting opportunity!
