Discover Japan through its history, traditions, art, and contemporary culture! This immersive study abroad experience takes you from the vibrant streets of Tokyo to the historic temples of Kyoto, offering a unique opportunity to explore how Japan's rich cultural heritage connects with modern life.

Through visits to Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Hiroshima, Miyajima, and Osaka, you'll explore ancient temples and shrines, museums, historic neighborhoods, and cultural landmarks. Along the way, you'll experience Japanese traditions firsthand through activities such as a tea ceremony, sushi making, kimono wearing, and traditional arts workshops. You'll also have opportunities to engage with local experts and university students, explore Japanese popular culture, and reflect on the country's history and global influence.

Whether you're interested in history, art, culture, or simply curious about experiencing Japan, this program will help you broaden your global perspective, challenge assumptions, and develop valuable intercultural skills.

Explore Japanese culture and society through the humanities, examining how history, religion, art, architecture, traditions, and popular culture shape identity and everyday life.

Using Japan as your classroom, you'll connect academic concepts to firsthand experiences at cultural and historical sites, participate in guided discussions and activities, and reflect on similarities and differences between Japanese culture and your own.

The course is taught in English and is open to students from all academic disciplines. No Japanese language experience is required.
