Kevin Long (Director), Nominated for The 2015 Tony Award® for Excellence in Theatre Education and Co-Author of the book Bring on the Bard: Active Drama Approaches for Shakespeare’s Diverse Student Readers (with Dramaturg Mary Christel), Kevin is a multiple award-winning Professor of Theatre at Harper College and a nationally recognized expert in teaching Folio Technique and frequently presents his workshop “Shakespeare Whispers into Your Ear,” which explores the language and theatre of Shakespeare using the 1623 First Folio. Kevin teaches Folio Technique for Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s Education Department, for Actors Training Center, and at various institutions and theatres across the country. www.kevinlongdirector.com.
Jeremy Ramey (Music Director) is a music director, concert pianist and conductor based in Chicago. For over a decade, he served as the resident music director for Theo Ubique Theater and, in that time, received 15 Jeff nominations for best music direction and won six. Jeremy has worked all over Chicago and regionally including The Goodman, Drury Lane Oakbrook, Farmers Alley and Marriott Lincolnshire among others. He received his training at Rhodes College, Northwestern University and The Juilliard School of Music.
Jennifer Cupani (Choreographer) is a dance educator, choreographer and director. Jennifer is trained in ballet, jazz, modern (Graham), lyrical and tap. Notable teachers include Pam Tanis, Rory Foster and Eileen Cropley. Over the past 20 years, her career has led her into musical theatre as both a director and choreographer. Jennifer attended the renowned Conservatory of Dance at Barat College on scholarship.
Lauren Nichols (Set Designer) is a three-time Jeff- nominated freelance designer native to Chicago. This is her 9th production with Harper College. Other credits include: Hot Wing King, Tiger Style (Writers Theatre) and A Home What Howls (Steppenwolf). She has also designed for Marriott, Remy Bumppo, UIC, Rivendell, Lifeline, Victory Gardens, Jackalope, Shattered Globe, Renaissance Theatreworks, Village Theatre in Seattle, The Gift Theatre, Firebrand, Teatro Vista, Raven and BoHo. As an associate she has worked on dozens of productions all over the country including shows with Goodman, Drury Lane, Court, St Louis Opera, Milwaukee Rep and The Alliance. She currently teaches drafting and digital design as an adjunct professor at The Theatre School-DePaul University. She is the recipient of the 2024 Michael Maggio Award for Emerging Designers. Jane DeBondt (Costume Designer) graduated from Millikin University in 1984 and was an equity actor for ten years. She has been a professional designer/stitcher since 1994. For the past four years Jane and her design partner, Jesus Perez, have been the lead costume designers for RAIL EVENTS’ Polar Express. Other recent productions include Emma (St. Ignatius High School), Big Fish, Lettie, Sense and Sensibility, Too Heavy for Your Pocket, Shakespeare in Love (Harper College), Sister Act, Sweeney Todd and Disaster! (Rocky Mountain Repertory theater). Jane is currently the resident costume designer at Harper College.
Madeleine Reid (Lighting Designer) is a Chicago-based Lighting Designer. Assistant Lighting Design credits include: Antonio’s Song, A Christmas Carol, The Notebooks of Leonardo Da Vinci (Goodman Theatre), Lucy & Charlie’s Honeymoon (Lookingglass), Moby Dick, Twisted Melodies, Mlima’s Tale(Repertory Theatre St. Louis), The Murder of Roger Akroyd, The Servant of Two Masters, Sherlock & the Case of the Jersey Lily (Alley Theatre), King John (Oregon Shakespeare), Trouble In Mind, The Sound of Music, Clue (Utah Shakespeare) and 65th Season (Dallas Opera). Lighting Design credit include work with Rec Room, Stages Houston, Kitchen Theatre and Geva Theatre Center.
Jenna Moran (Sound Designer and Engineer) This is the twelfth show that Jenna has designed at Harper. Select credits include Lettie, Sense and Sensibility, Too Heavy for Your Pocket, Shakespeare in Love, Follies, Fiddler on the Roof, Driving Miss Daisy and Parade. Jenna has worked at several of Chicago’s top theaters including Lookingglass Theatre Company, Court Theatre, The House Theatre of Chicago and Porchlight Music Theatre where she is a proud Artistic Associate. She has also worked for The Walt Disney Company and represented the US at the 2015 Prague Quadrennial where her work was on display throughout the Czech Republic. Jenna is a graduate of The Theatre School at DePaul University with her BFA in Sound Design, and studied at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, England.
Justin F. Charles (Props Designer) is delighted to be designing for HCETC. He won a Lou Award for his props design for Theatre 121’s Steel Magnolias. His other recent props design credits include productions of A Christmas Carol, Murder on the Orient Express and Sweeney Todd. He holds the rank of Knight in the French Order of the Academic Palms and founded Round Lake HS’s Ghostlight Readers Theatre which received the Ann Flagg Multicultural Award in 2019.
Kate Compton (Intimacy Director) is a Chicago-based Actor, Storyteller and Intimacy Director. She holds an MFA in Acting from Northwestern University and teaches Acting here at Harper College. Kate hails from Los Angeles where she is a founding member of the creative collective, Tuesday Night Films. Currently, she is working on a one-woman show that tackles body image and self-acceptance titled Apologetically Myself.
Mary T. Christel (Dramaturg) currently is the curriculum developer for TimeLine Theatre’s Living History program. She has served as dramaturg for Harper Theatre Ensemble productions including Shakespeare in Love, Too Heavy for Your Pocket and Lettie. Mary co-authored Bring on the Bard: Active Drama Approaches for Shakespeare’s Diverse Student Readers with Kevin Long.
Kate Stewart (Stage Manager) Kate is happy to be back at Harper College. She’s a former student of Harper and received her bachelor’s in Technical Theatre from Columbia College of Chicago. Some of the favorite shows she’s worked on include: Fiddler on the Roof, Boeing Boeing and Crimes of the Heart. Kate wants to send love and thanks to her family and friends for their continued support with absolutely everything.
Alyssa Maslanka (Assistant Stage Manager) is excited to work with Kevin and Kate again for Guys and Dolls. Alyssa's previous shows include Anna in the Tropics, Follies, Ragtime, Sense and Sensibility, Shakespeare in Love, Lettie, Crimes of the Heart and The Odd Couple. She is glad to have worked with the production team, cast and crew and is excited to put on another great show. She hopes everyone has a fantastic two weekends of shows!
Eugenia Bouboudakis (Mimi / Havana Dancer / Crap Shoot Dancer / Understudy Adelaide) is a performer with experience in a variety of roles across theatre productions. At Harper College, she portrayed Mrs. Palmer in Sense and Sensibility, The Musical bringing unique energy to the character. Beyond her work at Harper, Eugenia has taken on larger-than-life roles such as Paulette in Legally Blonde where she captured the character’s humor and charm, and Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream showcasing her comedic versatility. Her dedication to the craft allows her to adapt to both contemporary and classical works, creating memorable performance in every production she joins.
Sarah Breidenbach (Sarah Brown) is excited to be back on stage at Harper College Ensemble Theatre playing one of her dream roles! She has previously appeared in Harper’s productions of Pippin (Catherine), Urinetown (Hope) and A Little Night Music (Anne). Other credits include Belle in Beauty and the Beast (Starlight Theatre), Hope in Something’s Afoot (Citadel Theatre), and Sally/Mary in It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play (Williams Street Repertory). Alice Brown (General Matilda B. Cartwright) is delighted to be working at Harper College with Kevin Long for the fourteenth time! Most recently she appeared as Siobhan in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime at Oakton College and as Dotty/Mrs. Clackett in Theater D’s Noises Off. Favorite onstage roles include Daisy in Driving Miss Daisy, Lottie in Enchanted April and especially Charity in Sweet Charity where she met her husband, Bill. Favorite offstage roles include wife of Bill and mom of Will (Abby) and Peter (Brianna). Well done to everyone involved in this rollicking show! I'd bet on you anytime!
Bill Brown (Arvide Abernathy) is glad to be back performing at Harper College in his thirteenth production. He last appeared at Harper in Sense and Sensibility, the Musical directed by Kevin Long. Favorite roles include those where he performs as husband to real-life wife, Alice, such as Fiddler on the Roof, Enchanted April and Anna in the Tropics, all directed by Kevin. Elizabeth Crutchfield (Agatha/Understudy Sarah Brown) is absolutely thrilled to make her debut with the Harper Ensemble Theatre Company. Her passion for theatre blossomed ten years ago during her 8th-grade production of Guys and Dolls and it has burned brightly ever since. Elizabeth's previous credits include: Marty in Grease (Cricket Theatre Company), Leading Player in Pippin (Lake Zurich High School), and Logainne in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Lake Zurich High School). She extends all her love and deepest gratitude to her incredible parents, Barb and Skip, her brother Matthew, her sister Katie and her amazing fiancé, Vince, whose unwavering support and encouragement have been her guiding light. Jon Cunningham (Sky Masterson) is making his first appearance with the Harper Ensemble Theatre Company. Recent credits include Fredrik Egerman (A Little Night Music) and Pontius Pilate (Jesus Christ Superstar) at Brightside Theatre. He is excited to return to the show that inspired him to pursue acting 30 years ago. Since then, he has performed at Drury Lane, Marriott Lincolnshire, Theatre at the Center, Big Noise and Apple Tree. Favorite roles include Seymour (Little Shop of Horrors), Jesus (Jesus Christ Superstar), John (John and Jen) and Charlie (Merrily We Roll Along, 2005 Best Actor Jeff Citation Nominee).
Miguel de León (Benny Southstreet / Understudy for Sky Masterson) is active in both church music and choral ensembles. He was recently seen in Morton College’s production of The Secret Garden as Captain Albert Lennox. Other roles include Officer Wells in Titanic the Musical (Wheaton Drama), Sondheim on Sondheim Ensemble (Village Theater Guild), Aztec Human Sacrifice as the Emperor (City Lit), All is Calm Ensemble (Beverly Arts Center), The Fantastics as Bellamy (Beverly Arts Center) and La Dolorosa as Perico (Main Street Opera). Miguel’s recordings include “Malandro”, “Postcards From Rio” and “Navidad” (Spanish version) and “Natal” (Portuguese version). Oli Hoeye (Miss Adelaide) Oli Hoeye is so excited to be a part of this production of Guys and Dolls with Harper College! Her most recent roles include Logainne Schwartzandgrubenierre in The Twenty-Fifth Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee with Music on Stage and Ensemble in Big Fish with Harper College. She is currently a student at Harper College studying art education. During her summers, she works for Diva Bee Productions in Colorado as a teacher, coaching middle schoolers on how to enjoy the stage as much as she does. Elizabeth Khouri (Therese) was previously in the Odd Couple (Cecily) with the Harper Ensemble Theatre Company. Adam Kowalski (Harry the Horse) This is Adam's first ever experience in a theatrical production
onstage at Harper or anywhere. Adam is studying Music and Voice at Harper College
and has found a love of acting through the wonderful theatre staff at the college.
Abbey Lancia (Allison / Havana Dancer / Crap Shoot Dancer / Dance Captain) is a New Jersey native and is so excited to make her Chicagoland theatre debut with the Harper Ensemble Theatre Company! Abigail has been performing her entire life, growing up a competitive dancer. More recently, she danced on the St. John’s University Kickline Team and has since performed in many academic and community productions such as Romeo and Juliet, Mamma Mia! and more. She would like to thank her parents, sisters, family and friends for their continual support of her theatre journey and the cast and crew of Guys and Dolls for the wonderful experience.
Jonathan C. Legat (Nicely-Nicely Johnson and Understudy Nathan Detroit) is so pleased to be performing for the first time on the Harper stage. Jon could recently be seen as Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music and Uncle Gustav in The Christmas Schooner with the Dundee Park District. Jon had been part of several Chicago Storefront Theatre shows, independent films, background artist on film sets, commercials and Improv in what he lovingly calls B.C. (Before Children). Jon is blessed by his biggest fan, his brightest light and his unwavering support partner (his wife, Tricia).
Andrew McCarthy (Nathan Detroit) is delighted to be working with Harper College. A graduate of the Columbia film school, his short film was nominated by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science for Best Student Short film. Past theatre credits include Chicago (Amos) Big Noise Theatre, James and the Giant Peach (Centipede), Les Misérables (Thenardier) and Gypsy (Herbie). His next production will be in Disaster! The Musical at Big Noise Theatre. Andrew would like to dedicate his performance to two of his past mentors who directed him in previous productions of Guys and Dolls, Stevi Marks (GBS) and Bob Bierie (WTC).
Victoria McKellar (Lily / Havana Soloist / Crap Shoot Dancer / Understudy Hotbox Dancer) is so honored to be making her first appearance with the Harper Ensemble Theatre Company! Other credits include Tzeital in Fiddler on the Roof (Waunakee Community High School) and a Featured Dancer in Chicago (Verona Area Community Theater). She is currently working as a Cake Decorator and Baker at Blessed Little Kitchen and is so grateful for the love and support from her friends, family and amazing coworkers.
Michael A. Perlin (Lieutenant Brannigan) Michael is thrilled to be making his Harper Ensemble Theater Company debut as Lieutenant Brannigan in Guys and Dolls. Recent credits include Oliver! (Mr. Brownlow/H.O.T.T. Productions) and 1776 (James Wilson/Rising Stars Theatre Company). Previous credits include multiple shows in high school and community theater including Guys and Dolls (Nicely-Nicely/Niles West High School). After a brief 42-year journey in a medical career (Anesthesiologist), it is great to be back on the stage! John Pietrzyk (Rusty Charlie / Bartender / Drunk) is making his debut appearance with the Harper Ensemble Theatre Company. His other credits include Alan Hoffman in Prodigal Son, M. Bouc in Murder on The Orient Express and Mr. Sym/Jerry in The Outsiders. Inspired by his son, Liam, John has developed a passion for acting and performing. He is immensely grateful to the Harper production team for allowing him to be a part of the cast of Guys and Dolls. He is also appreciative of his castmates that they put up with him.
Francine Posadas (Rebecca) Francine is very excited to be a part of the cast of Guys and Dolls for her first production at Harper College! Francine was previously part of the Hoffman Estates High School ensembles in Chicago, Pirates of Penzance, Joseph and Les Miserables. Francine is very musically inclined; with experience in choir and singing in Harper’s Jazz ensemble. Francine is also a representative in Harper’s Philippines United. Off-stage, she is a full-time student and is very passionate about everything she does. Francine would like to thank her family, friends and cast for all the love and support.
Emily Rose (Ferguson / Havana Dancer / Crap Shoot Dancer) is thrilled to be making her debut on the Harper stage! Her most recent roles have been Suzy Simpson (The Marvelous Wonderettes), Shelby/Student Ensemble (The Prom), Marcy Park (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) and Maggie Winslow (A Chorus Line). Emily is currently working towards her major in Theatre Education and minor in Music at Harper College. She would like to thank her friends, family, and most importantly, the entire Guys and Dolls team for their support and hard work to make this show come to life!
Enzo Rotteveel (Calvin / Mark the Shark) Enzo is making his second appearance with the Harper Ensemble Theatre Company. Enzo recently played Oscar in our fall production of The Odd Couple. He is a second-year student at Harper College and discovered his love for theater by taking theater classes at Harper. Enzo is the recipient of the Mary Jo Willis Theatre Scholarship. Enzo is excited and thankful for the opportunity and wants to thank everyone who has supported him.
Barbara Schroepfer (Vernon / Havana Dancer / Crap Shoot Dancer) is thrilled to be making her first appearance with the Harper Ensemble Theatre Company! She has her BFA in Musical Theatre from Southeast Missouri State University. She recently performed in Steel Beam Theatre's Miscast Cabaret in various roles. She would like to thank the production team and cast for including her in this fun show.
