Harper College will be closed Monday, September 1, in observance of Labor Day.
The Harper College Police Department routinely reviews and updates internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current laws and best practices in law enforcement.
In accordance with recent updates to state legislation, the department has adopted a policy addressing standards of conduct during the course of certain types of criminal investigations.
Law enforcement officers are prohibited from knowingly and willingly performing an act of sexual penetration with the suspect of a criminal investigation of prostitution during the course of an investigation conducted by that officer (5 ILCS 810/10).
Sec. 10. Law enforcement agency policy; prostitution investigations. Each law enforcement agency shall create a policy on or before July 1, 2025 that prohibits law enforcement officers from knowingly and willingly performing an act of sexual penetration with the suspect of a criminal investigation of prostitution during the course of an investigation conducted by that officer. The policy shall be posted and made publicly available.
